Instead of alerting your teammates on something they have done wrong, you always have a choice to observe what they have done right and give them the most timely acknowledgement of "That's it! How did you make it? " More often than not, your noticing it helps them see something that they are not even aware of. What might be the power brought by acknowledgement?

Here are some examples of acknowledgment;

When all the attendees are present at the meeting on time, your acknowledgement of "Great to have all of us on time" would be more effective than noting it when someone is late.

When your member takes the complaint call from any client, you could say to him/her 'Appreciate you took care of the call yourself.'

When any staff member comes to report a failure to you, you tell him/her 'Appreciate you report to me in a timely and transparent manner.'

When a proposal is well done, you could acknowledge by saying 'I'll present to the client the version you made as it is!.'

Making changes in our daily work is significant yet not as easy, therefore acknowledgement could be an accelerator for employees in these occasions too;

when he/sher tries some new way of approaching work,
when he/she brings in innovative effort,
when he/she shows compassion and lends a helping hand for others,
when a he/she takes initiatives to gain feedback from others

In acknowledgment, all you are doing is to point out when someone does something that is going well, or is likely to go well in the future. Instead of praising them with your standard, you are pointing out the facts to them.

What else have you experienced the power of acknowledgement?
