[The Three-Minute Coach Essential] When do people change?
October 8, 2020
One can only change when the risk of not changing outweighs the risk of changing.
Many managers try to change their members who don't behave the way they want with perhaps a good intention of developing them.
The essence we really need to understand is that people are reluctant to change in the first place.
Even if a change is seen as a great opportunity from the outside, the person in question is often unsure as to whether or not to accept the change.
This is because it is not our reasoning that is averse to new behaviors and changes, but our emotions. Even if your mind knows, your body can't keep up with it.
It is generally believed that the risk of change is greater than the risk of maintaining the status quo. If a person changes, it is when he/she decides that there is a greater risk of maintaining the status quo than changing, or when the reward of change is worth the risk
